Satellite Symposium Review

Under the joint leadership of Professor Chen Haoyu from Joint Shantou International Eye Center of Shantou University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Professor Chen Xinjian from Suzhou University and Big Vision Medical Technology, the Satellite Symposium kicked off.

At the beginning of the conference, Professor Chen Xinjian warmly welcomed the participating experts and thanked them for their recognition. AI OCT has been successfully applied in retinal disease screening and eye health management, which is of positive significance for promoting the development of universal eye health. Professor Chen Haoyu highly affirmed the value of AI OCT in ophthalmic clinical diagnosis and treatment. He sent his best wishes for the smooth and successful holding of the conference and looked forward to discussing the application and prospects of AI OCT with fellow ophthalmologists.

Review of Presentation Topics

Professor Xu Xun presented on the topic “Application and Concept of AI OCT in Universal Retinal Disease Screening” and shared with everyone the changing trend of the major causes of blindness in China. The incidence of retinal diseases has been continuously increasing in our country, which has become the leading irreversible cause of blindness. Therefore, universal retinal disease screening is necessary. The Big Vision fully automated AI OCT BV1000 has the characteristics of automatic operation, simple and convenient examination, voice guidance throughout the entire examination process, and a friendly user experience. It integrates artificial intelligence and assists in rapid diagnosis. It was awarded the “Eye Science and Technology Progress Award” by the Ophthalmology Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Equipment Society in 2022. Professor Xu Xun fully affirmed the practical value of Big Vision AI OCT for grassroots hospitals and community screening, and hoped that AI OCT could be more widely used to help achieve early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment of retinal diseases, and assist more patients with eye diseases.

Professor Lv Fan focused on two hot topics – myopia prevention and control in children and adolescents, and vision and eye health problems caused by the aging society. He advocated the use of advanced artificial intelligence technology to advance the cognition, prevention, and diagnosis and treatment of eye health, and promote proactive eye health in the whole society. Professor Lv Fan pointed out that AI OCT played an important role in community-based eye health screening. The Big Vision fully automated AI OCT BV1000 is not only convenient and efficient to operate, but also relies on a safe and stable cloud platform architecture. Examination images are shared in real time in the cloud, supporting remote grading diagnosis and treatment, which can better monitor and follow up on diseases, making eye health management more intelligent and efficient.

Professor Tang Shibo stated in the report that building a chronic eye disease management system and implementing technical solutions for graded diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy can make full use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and improve the construction of the chronic disease monitoring and evaluation system. The Big Vision fully automated AI OCT BV1000 integrates the industry-leading multimodal ophthalmic imaging-assisted diagnosis system, which can assist in the diagnosis of 16 common eye diseases, providing intelligent and accurate efficient detection. It helps to solve the pain point of lacking high-level doctors in county-level and grassroots medical institutions, assisting in the diagnosis and management of ophthalmic chronic diseases.
