Congratulations to Big Vision for winning the “Second Prize of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province”.

Recently, the project of “Multimodal Medical Image Processing and Analysis and its Application in Disease Diagnosis”, which was jointly completed by Big Vision and Soochow University, won the “Second Prize of Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Award 2018”.

Jiangsu Science and Technology Award is an important science and technology award established by Jiangsu Province to encourage independent innovation, promote the close integration of scientific research, technology development and economic and social development, and promote the commercialization and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements. The project of “Multimodal Medical Image Processing and Analysis and its Application in Disease Diagnosis” is the result of the long-term research and innovation of Big Vision and its partners in the field of ophthalmic image analysis and diagnosis, which represents the international advanced level of artificial intelligence in the field of ophthalmic medical image analysis and diagnosis.

Currently, artificial intelligence has been used in screening and diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy based on fundus color photography, but because fundus color photography only provides 2D images, analysis of other retinal diseases based on fundus color photography is limited in terms of disease types and accuracy. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) technology has become the most important diagnostic imaging technology in ophthalmology because it can provide accurate information about the tissue structure of the fundus, and the technical difficulty of its image processing and analysis is much greater than that of fundus color photography. The “Multimodal Medical Image Processing and Analysis System”, jointly developed by Big Vision, effectively integrates deep learning and classical image processing and analysis algorithms to align 3D OCT images with 2D Fundus images by extracting image features, which can provide richer and more accurate disease information, thus significantly It can provide richer and more accurate disease information, thus significantly improving the detection accuracy of retinal diseases, and currently can achieve the auxiliary diagnosis of more than 20 common ophthalmic diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.

At the same time, Big Vision also established a demonstration center with domestic well-known ophthalmic medical institutions for clinical validation, with excellent performance indicators, which was recognized and affirmed by many experts in the industry. Big Vision will take this award as a new starting point to further promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and ophthalmology treatment, so that artificial intelligence can become a good assistant for doctors and work together to achieve “early detection of every pair of eyes with problems and give the best treatment plan”.
