The Suzhou Biomedical Electronics Technology Laboratory at Suzhou University was established in 2005. It focuses on research areas such as medical image processing and analysis, biomedical imaging technology, biomedical signal processing, neural information and engineering, and speech signal processing. The laboratory continuously enhances its innovation capabilities and operational management level, playing a significant role in talent cultivation, undertaking major scientific research tasks, and producing high-level innovative achievements. Since 2013, Professor Chen Xinjian has served as the director of the laboratory.
In the past five years, the laboratory has made significant achievements in technology transfer. It has undertaken over 20 national, provincial, and municipal projects, including the National Key R&D Program and the Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, with a cumulative research funding exceeding 30 million RMB. The laboratory has received the second and third prizes of the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2018, as well as the first prize of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Technology Invention Award in 2020. Additionally, it has published more than 150 papers in international and domestic authoritative journals, including over 30 papers in top-tier journals such as IEEE Transactions on Image Processing and IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging. More than 100 conference papers have been published, and over 30 invention patents have been granted, with more than 10 patents transferred.
In order to promote the deep integration of university-enterprise resources and collaborate on innovative industry-university-research models, Big Vision Medical Technology and Suzhou University jointly established the “Suzhou University-Big Vision Medical Joint Research Laboratory” in 2016.
The close integration of the industry-university-research model has enabled Big Vision Medical Technology to make continuous progress in product development, clinical applications, talent cultivation, and team building. It fully leverages the company’s independent innovation capabilities, accelerates the transformation of research achievements, and contributes to the cause of building a healthy China.
The recognition of the excellence of the discipline-based laboratory is an affirmation and encouragement from the Science and Technology Bureau towards the achievements of the “Suzhou Biomedical Electronics Technology Laboratory” at Suzhou University. In the future, Professor Chen Xinjian will continue to lead the discipline-based laboratory at Suzhou University, explore new methods and technologies for medical image AI, promote the transformation of excellent scientific research results, and provide technological support for the country’s innovation-driven development strategy.
